I started to become interested in radio when I was 6 years old. My parents owned an old Phillips tube radio and I had a lot of fun turning on the frequency dial. When I was 11 years old I build my first receiver. In the following years I did a lot of electronic projects.1987 I passed my class A exam in Germany. I got the call sign DH8DAJ which I upgraded 1989 to the class B. I received the call DL8DBT.

I moved to Los Angeles in 1995 and passed my general class exam in 1996. My call sign was KF6HSP. Unfortunately I was not very active in Los Angeles since I never had space to setup short wave antennas.

In 2004 I moved to Grand Rapids Michigan. I setup a Cushcraft R6000 and I was back in business. In April 2005 I passed the extra class exam and received my new vanity call sign W8DA in May 2005.

I purchased a house in Alto Michigan in 2005 with some space to setup antennas. I built a 4 element cubical 5 band quad, which I set up on a tubular cranking tower. I also setup a 160m windom antenna.

I also enjoy contesting, SSB, PSK, RTTY and a little CW.

I like to program. I just finished some ham radio software for Android cell phones. I programmed a morse trainer app and a dx-cluster app. I have more information at www.wolphi.com
